Swedish massage can be helpful with reducing pain, joint stiffness and increasing circulation. Deep Tissue massage allows access to the deeper layers of the soft tissue. This massage type begins gently and eases into a more firm, higher pressure massage. Kneading Wellness does not recommend this type of massage on your first visit as some may have an adverse reaction.

Injury treatment massage is just that, for treating injuries. Sometimes deemed medically necessary, this type of massage has been shown to be very beneficial in aiding in the healing of damaged muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue. It has also been shown to relieve pain associated with old and / or new injuries.

Although Massage cupping has been used for centuries in China, it has only recently been introduced to the western world and has met with great success. The negative pressure created by the suction cups pulls muscles, tendons, and connective tissue. This works to, among other things, increase circulation. Massage cupping is so deep reaching it can affect up to four inches deeper into the body than regular, conventional massage alone. Because it pulls and does not push, it can be very effective to use on those whom may not be able to handle a deep tissue massage. It is also a wonderful technique to use when a muscle is not responding to other techniques. One additional benefit of receiving massage cupping treatment is that it effects the lymph system, which is the body’s “garbage” system. Since we introduce many toxins into our bodies each day, intentionally or unintentionally, the lymph system could use a helping hand in filtering them.

Hot stone massages have grown in popularity over the last few years. One reason may be the fact that they are very therapeutic. The heat from the hot basalt stones is deep reaching, allowing tight muscles and connective tissue to relax and “melt” into health. Because of the use of heat, circulation is increased as well. This can give the abused circulatory system a hand in delivering nutrient rich blood to hungry tissues.

Aromatherapy massage utilizes essential oils mixed into a base of lotion, oil or cream and applied to problem areas. Essential oils offer many benefits such as, stress relief, muscle relaxation, analgesic (pain relief), antidepressant and antispasmodic. Aromatherapy massage is very highly recommended by Kneading Wellness. Many consider this to be a widely un-tapped resource of health care.
